Services The museum is currently undergoing extensive alterations due to the Extension and Renovation Project.
The first phase was inaugurated on 31 January: the extension, a space of over 3,000 sq m which is now open to the public, comprises public services, galleries, a restoration workshop, storage area, offices, a large library and archive... and a themed exhibition: Córdoba, a Meeting of Cultures. An integral part of the exhibition discourse is the archaeological site in the basement, which is also open to the public.
The exhibition features important pieces from the permanent collection and will run until the end of the following phase in the project: improving the museum display area of the Renaissance Palace with a new permanent exhibition installation, and linking and enhancing all the areas of the archaeological site.
Library Specialising in archaeology, museum studies and historical heritage, the library boasts 13,500 catalogued books and periodicals, although access is currently restricted due to limited space, as mentioned earlier.

Archives The institution has its own historical archive featuring some of its prolific history. The collection of old photographs of the museum is outstanding. In addition, the museum also houses the personal archive of the architect and researcher Félix Hernández Jiménez, who was actively involved in the intervention of Andalusian sites and monuments during the mid-20th century.
